Darkness and light

I'm driving home after work. I am getting a headache from squinting. I'm squinting because the sun is shining right in my eyes. I'm annoyed.

Then I realize:

I'm squinting because the SUN is SHINING in my eyes AFTER work!

I made it through the darkest dark of a pacific northwest winter.

We descended into darkness, skirted around the solstice and are rocketing back up into the light! What a beautiful day to see the light on my way home. Even more so to see the actual sun shining down on me. In my car. Squinting at traffic.

And risking an accident trying to take an iPhone picture.
